We brought together professional film makers

And entered the two weeeks to make it film challenge....

Where film makers are teamed with bands

We were teamed with the band Drag

And then we had two weeks to make a music video for their song Hollywood Waist.

In two frantic weeks the video was planned, story boards drawn, locations, props and extras found and the video was edited.

Below is the video which we produced working with Drag.

The song deals with the subject of Body Dysmorphia Disorder and contains scenes which some may find disturbing including self harming. The song also contains explicit lyrics which some may find offensive.

Help Cinders get to the ball!

Touring Saturday 1st December to Saturday 22nd December

Each year we introduce thousands of young people to the magic of theatre, many of whom wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity to see and experience theatre.

Last year Grumpy Old Scrooge was seen by over 5,000 young people.

This production will be many of the audiences first introduction to the world of theatre; a world that can ignite their imaginations as well as entertaining them, make them think as well as make them laugh and open their minds to new ideas and new ways of seeing things.

We need your support so that we can subsidise the cost to those booking it and cover the cost of touring.

Rage Arts discovered the Young Runaways, a band whose members come from the Black Country and the West Midlands on Twitter where they were looking for someone to make a video to promote the single Closer from There Is A World Outside their forthcoming Ep which they will be launching at the Yardbird in Birmingham on the 15th June.

The Young Runaways create music that will get people talking.  They consist of a six-piece who use violin, trumpet, trombone and keys blended with electric guitar, drums and bass to produce rock ‘n’ roll one moment and elegant chamber pop the next.  The band, comprising a set of siblings and friends is fronted by Matt Pinfield and Harriet J Woodcock.  The Young Runaways have a special talent which will carve their orchestral infused songs into your brain and leave them there forever.

Further Tweeting resulted in Rage Arts bringing together a crew of people consisting of crew from Wind-Up World Films (a collective of film makers from Hereford) and Director James Webster, with whom Rage has worked on a number of projects including a community theatre production of Our Country’s Good at the Birmingham Old Rep last year.

The Dining Room at Bantock House in Wolverhampton was the ideal setting for a live film of the band performing their song Closer, the room’s Arts & Craft decor with carved wooden panelling providing an exquisite backdrop to the brass and other wooden instruments. You can see the film produced by Rage Arts for the Young Runaways online at www.closer.rage.org.uk & you can catch the band live at the Yardbird in Birmingham on the 15th June at their single launch.

Rage Arts have provided work experience for young people at school, university students, unemployed and those seeking to develop their careers. They are interested to hear from local people aspiring to enter the film industry and may be able to provide work experience or assist with film projects.  Anyone who is interested should contact Rage via their website.

In 2007 Rage set up The Urban Film Club to give people the opportunity to work with professionals to create their own short films.  Films from the club have been screened at film festivals and company AGMs.

We have recently started Digital Stories a project to give people the opportunity to work with professionals to make their own film as part of this project we are seeking to replace our old editing system and buy new camera equipment. You can support this project by searching the internet and clicking on the results. Thank you to all the individuals and companies who have supported the project so far including:- BeachTek Inc.Hawk WoodsNexto DI UkNoise IndustriesRed Giant Software , Sorenson,  Zacuto,  Cineroid/Octica.  Christmas will once again see Rage Arts taking the magic of theatre to young people throughout the Black Country and surrounding counties with their exciting new production Grumpy Old Scrooge adapted from Christmas Carol which will be touring to primary schools throughout the West Midlands, Black Country and surrounding counties.

We are developing plans to set up a Community Arts & Media Centre which will provide opportunities for people to come and work with professionals to create their own productions and we are looking for somewhere to create this centre eg school, youth centre or other organisation working in a community.

presents The Runaways

A Sturdy, Taggart, Hancock film….

Online @ Mediabox 07to11

What do you do when things at home are so bad that you can't face them anymore?

You run away!

There is no alternative?

16 young people from across the city of Birmingham came together to create and film a story that was important to them.

A group of young people from Birmingham Rathbone worked with a professional director from Rage Arts to explore and develop their ideas for their own film.

From these ideas a script was produced and then a crew of young people, including two from Birmingham Rathbone, worked with the group to film the story.

The resulting film was edited by an enthusiastic 15 year old editor from Hollywood!

Some of the challenges encountered on the way included the lead actor having to drop out after day one, two editors dropping out, working around exam schedules, building work taking place next door to the film set, filming everything in three days....
